CKC

Many of the activities available in Canada are sanctioned by Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).  The CKC website (www.ckc.ca) provides a wealth of information about the different activities, Calendar of Events, and entry forms.  Activities include Conformation, Agility, and Earth Dog.

Participation eligibility generally requires that the dog be CKC registered and the owner be a CKC member.  If the owner is not a CKC member, a "non-member participation fee" will apply.  If you are interested in becoming a CKC member, check out their website for more details.

If your dog is from a CWHWTC member breeder, it will be registered with the CKC. Contact the breeder if you have any questions about the registration.

If your dog is from a Rescue organization, you may still be able to register it with the CKC.  The CKC Performance Event Number (PEN) "allows an unregisterable dog of a recognized CKC breed to participate in competitive events that are appropriate for the breed."  Contact the CKC for full details about the PEN.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) is the US equivalent of the CKC is Canada.  Many dogs that live near the Canadian border are also AKC registered and compete in the United States as well as Canada.  Information about AKC activities and rules can be found on their website (www.akc.org).
