The Challenge Trophy for Best Westie
by Breed, Group and Best in Show Points
For
this award, all dogs defeated at the Best of Breed, Group, and Best in Show
levels are totalled and the dog or bitch with the most dogs defeated wins. Winner
must have defeated 1 dog at the breed level.
The
Lee Outerbridge Memorial Trophy
For
the breeder of Best Westie - Challenge Trophy Winner.
CWHWTC
Trophy for Best in Breed Wins
This
award is calculated on the number of dogs defeated at the Best of Breed
level. In case of a tie, the number
of wins is the deciding factor. Winner must have defeated 1 dog at the breed
level.
The Adams Memorial Trophy
For the breeder of Best in Breed
Wins - CWHWTC Trophy Winner.
CWHWTC
Trophy For Best of Opposite Sex Wins
This
award is calculated on the number of dogs defeated at the Best Opposite Sex
level. In case of a tie, the number of wins is the deciding factor.
The Bradley Award for Winners Dog
(Up To Completion of Title)
Since
all dogs need 10 points to get their title, this award is calculated on
the number of dogs defeated until the dog or bitch has reached 10 points. No
wins after the 10 CKC points are obtained are counted unless a 3 point
win at one show gives said dog or bitch 11 points, in which case the last show
where the 10 points are obtained is then counted, as there is no way to separate
these points and dogs defeated. If a Group win was obtained, then the
number of Best of Breed dogs defeated is subtracted from the total dogs defeated
for the Group win.
The B.G. Frame Memorial Trophy for
Winners Bitch (Up To Completion of Title)
This is calculated in the same way
as the Bradley Award for Winners Dog.
The Jeudwine Award for Best of Winners
(Up To Completion of Title)
This
award is calculated on the number of dogs defeated at the Best of Winners
level. In case of a tie, the number of wins is the deciding factor.
The Manderly Puppy Challenge Award
Donated by Lillian Palmer.
This award
is calculated on the number of dogs defeated in any Group and Best of Breed
as well as Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show placing. Puppies
are automatically awarded 2 points for a Best Puppy in Group win and 3 points
for a Best Puppy in Show win. Should
a Group placing be obtained by a puppy, then the number of dogs defeated
at the Breed level will be subtracted.
The Bencruachen Award
For
the breeder of Best Puppy - The Manderly Puppy Challenge Award winner.
The Skyehigh Trophy for Best Bred
By Exhibitor Dog
Donated
by Lindy Barrow. This award is calculated on the number of dogs defeated
at the Breed, Group and Best in Show level. Again, if a Group win is obtained,
the number of dogs defeated at the Breed level will be deducted. The
breeder and the owner of the dog must be the same person without
regard to the person handling the dog in the ring.
.
The Carter Memorial Trophy for Best
Bred By Exhibitor Bitch
Donated
by Ken & Joan Carter. This
award is calculated the same way as the Bred By Exhibitor Dog award.
Obedience
CWHWTC Obedience Trophy
for Highest Points in competing at Companion Dog level (Novice)
The dog obtaining the highest
total of the first three qualifying scores of C.D. wins. All three qualifying
scores must be obtained in one calendar year. The winner receives a keeper trophy
and a certificate. The
Raglan Award for Highest Total CDX and UD Scores Penny
Bell Scorer's Raglan Kennels first offered this plaque in 1982. This award takes
the total qualifying scores obtained in CDX and UD trials for one calendar year
and adds them together. The dog obtaining the highest total then wins the
award. The Raglan
Award for Highest CDX and UD Average Scores Penny
Bell Scorer proposed this trophy so that dogs that did not campaign but had a
great average score could also be honoured. The average score is obtained by dividing
the total of all the scores obtained in C.D.X. and U.D. trials for one calendar
year by the total number of trials. The dog with the highest average wins. The
winner's name is engraved onto the trophy and the winner receives a certificate.
The Scottlands Fiona
Memorial Trophy
This
trophy was given by Monique Courtois in memory of Froufrou (Can. Am. Bah. Bda.
Mex. Int'l. Ch. Scottlands Fiona, Can. Am. Mex. UD, Bda. PR CDX, Bah. CD, TT).
This trophy is awarded to a Westie who has obtained a Utility Dog title in a
minimum of two different countries. In the case more than one dog applies
in a given year, all dogs shall be awarded the trophy. The Utility Dog titles need
not be obtained in one calendar year, but the dog's owner must be a CWHWTC member
in those year(s). The winner's and dog's names are engraved on the trophy
and the winner receives a certificate.
Special
Awards
Hill'n
Vale Award for Versatility Ann
Budge first offered the Hill'n Vale Award for Versatility in 1986 for dogs receiving
degrees from three of the four areas of competition - Obedience, Conformation,
Tracking and Go-to-Ground. The dog needs not be alive at the present time to apply.
The Westie must be owned by a member of the Club; in addition the owner
must be a member for the period in which at least one title of the three was earned.
There is no limit to the number of dogs receiving the award in one year.
The CG title may be won in the U.S.A. The A.W.T.A. operates in both countries
and the title can be won only once. The CKC recognizes a CG awarded in American
and Canadian soils. The award goes to the dog but is presented to the owner
who put the last of the 3 titles on it. Burcharon
Super Dog Award Four
titles or degrees are recognized from the following areas of dog endeavours: Obedience,
Conformation, Tracking, Go-to-Ground, Agility, Flyball, Scent Hurdling, and a
Temperament type test. Only one title from each area counts as one of the four
required titles or degrees. (For example, under the Temperament type test area,
a dog can use only one of Canine Good Citizen (CGC), or Therapy Dog International
(TDI), or Temperament Test (TT) towards the Burcharon Super Dog Award. All titles
must be awarded by a Canadian organisation, unless there is only one international
title giving body. The Westie must be owned by a member of the Club for the period
in which at least one title, and/or degree of the four was earned.
Qualifications
1. All CWHWTC Awards are open to members
only. All
members must be in good standing and all co-owners must be members in order
for the dog to qualify for the awards.
2. Since no results are carried over
from previous years, the current year is the only one that will apply. As this is the case, and in order to
avoid any confusion on some of the awards for which a specific criteria is
required, i.e. Bred by Exhibitor awards, if a dog is listed as being co-owned
in January Dogs in Canada and then somewhere during the year, the co-ownership
changes or the ownership changes to someone else, then that dog is disqualified
from competing for the award that requires that specific criteria for that
year. This makes the awards much fairer in that some members may not be
aware that you can make this type of change and still qualify for an award.
3. The information is based on the information published in Dogs in
Canada . Results are calculated from January 1 to December 31 st. Results
are not carried over from one year to another. Members should note that if
the information is published incorrectly, they should inform CKC so that
it can be amended in next issue; otherwise, the information is calculated as
published.
4. With regard to the Scottlands Fiona
Memorial Trophy, the Hill'n Vale Award for Versatility and the Burcharon
Trophy for Super Dog, since these results are not published in Dogs in Canada
and since the Club doesn't know all the dogs competing, if you feel you qualify
for one of these awards, please
contact the secretary listing the titles and when they were obtained and providing
copies of certificates or titles as proof of said titles so that you may qualify.
Tabulations
1. If a group win is obtained, the points for the breed are
counted, then any dogs defeated at the Breed level are subtracted from the
total number of dogs defeated for the Group Win.
2. If a Best in Show is obtained, the points for the breed and group are
counted, then any dogs defeated at the Breed and Group Level are subtracted
from the total number of dogs defeated for Best in Show.
3. For Flyball, the title giving body is North American Flyball Association,
(NAFA); for Agility, the Agility Association of Canada, (AAC) and the Canadian
Kennel Club (CKC); for Go-to-Ground, the American Working Terrier Association,
(AWTA) and the CKC and for Scent Hurdling, the CKC.
