About us

Mission

The Canadian West Highland White Terrier Club Rescue was formed to help find suitable new homes for displaced West Highland White Terriers.

Goals

To locate, rehabilitate and rehome all Westies in need.  To educate the public on the consequences of purchasing from Backyard Breeders and Pet Stores/Puppy Mills and encourage purchases from responsible breeders or adoptions from shelters or rescue organizations.

Intake Policy

All Westies that look to be pure bred will be accepted into Rescue, regardless of their origin or registration status.

Obvious mixes will not be taken into Westie Rescue. However the Rescue Committee will make every attempt to ensure that these animals are taken care of by all-breed rescue organizations.

No Westie will be turned away because of it’s problems, or because it will be expensive to fix it up sufficiently to ensure that it can have a decent quality of life. These problems include, but are not exclusive to; temperament, health, training, abuse or neglect.
