The Benefits of Membership

The best thing about being a member of the Canadian West Highland White Terrier Club is that you will be in a club with lots of people just like you – people who love Westies! It’s a great way to network with other members and learn from them and to give newer members the opportunity to learn from you!

The club holds a National Specialty each year with lots of events surrounding the show. There are dinners, silent auctions, seminars and the chance to pick up great Westie themed items from the fund-raising sales table. Regional Specialties also take place and there’s always something of interest for a Westie lover – whether you show your dog, compete in obedience, agility or are involved with Earth Dog trials.

There are annual trophies and awards given out each year to the Westies and their owners who have achieved success in conformation, obedience and a variety of sports and activities. Check out the webpage listing all of the awards and trophy winners, maybe you and your dog will be on that list in the future!

Since 1991 the club has maintained a Register of Merit (ROM-C). This is a list of sires and dams that have produced Champion puppies. A sire must have produced 5 champion offspring and a dam must have produced 3 champions to be recognized with a Register of Merit.

The club is governed by a Board with 5 officers and 7 to 9 directors chosen on a regional basis. Once you have been a member for a year you can stand for election to the board. To vote, you also must have been a member for a year, but you can volunteer to be on a committee any time you’d like!

If you are a Westie lover, this is the club for you. A place to share your joy around this wonderful breed.
